Discover Every Corner of Norway

Midt-Telemark is Telemark’s orchard-framed playground - a municipality where apple festivals bloom beside glacier-fed rivers, waterparks ripple with summer laughter, and hiking trails lead to panoramic peaks. With around 10,700 residents and a landscape shaped by Lifjell mountains, Bøelva river, and the fruit-rich valley of Gvarv, Midt-Telemark is the kind of place where you can ski past reindeer tracks, kayak through misty coves, and still catch a reindeer kebab beside a stave-style church. It’s got zest, zip lines, and a name that simply means “Central Telemark.”

Getting There

Midt-Telemark lies in central Telemark, with Bø as its administrative center. The RV36 highway and Sørlandsbanen railway connect to Notodden, Skien, and Kongsberg. Train stations include Bø and Nordagutu. Buses run to Gvarv, Akkerhaugen, and Sauherad. The area is best explored by boots, bike, or boat - especially if you’re chasing apple blossoms, glacier echoes, or the hush of birch leaves beside a lazy river.
