Birkenes
Birkenes is Southern Norway’s leafy retreat — a forest-rich municipality in Agder county where salmon leap through free-flowing rivers and peat-powered museums hum with history. With around 5,400 residents and a landscape shaped by the Tovdalselva river, Birkenes blends rural charm, industrial heritage, and outdoor adventure. Whether you’re hiking to Heilhornet, paddling across Ogge lake, or catching a concert at the Fjordbrøl Festival, Birkenes is a place where nature and community thrive side by side.
