Discover Every Corner of Norway

Lyngdal is Agder’s fjord-framed family haven - a municipality where salmon leap through waterfalls, sea golf balls dissolve into fish feed, and hiking trails lead to panoramic peaks. With around 10,750 residents and a landscape shaped by the Lyngdalsfjorden, Kvåsfossen, and the historic port of Korshamn, Lyngdal is the kind of place where you can kayak past sea cliffs, explore Viking burial mounds, and still catch a reindeer kebab beside a waterfall museum. It’s got charm, coastline, and a name that may stem from Old Norse *Lygnudalr* - “valley of calm waters.”

Getting There

Lyngdal lies on the southern coast of Norway, with Alleen as its administrative center. The E39 highway connects to Kristiansand and Stavanger, and buses run to Kvås, Konsmo, and Korshamn. Ferries dock nearby in Farsund and Mandal. The area is best explored by boots, boat, or bike - especially if you’re chasing salmon lore, sea golf swings, or the hush of fjord mist through pine leaves.
