Lillesand
Lillesand is Agder’s whitewashed harbor gem — a municipality where Blindleia’s island-studded waters shimmer beside Empire-style manors, and boat captains double as tour guides. With around 11,400 residents and a landscape shaped by the Skagerrak coast, Justøy island, and the historic seaport of Brekkestø, Lillesand is the kind of place where you can stroll past 18th-century customs houses, kayak through royal-signed straits, and still catch a reindeer kebab with lingonberry sour cream. It’s got charm, currents, and a name that means “little sandy beach.”

Getting There
Lillesand lies on the Sørlandet coast, about 30 minutes east of Kristiansand. The E18 highway and bus route 100 connect to Grimstad, Birkeland, and Kristiansand. Ferries dock at Brekkestø and Gamle Hellesund, and the M/S Øya sightseeing boat runs daily in summer. The area is best explored by boots, boat, or bike — especially if you’re chasing maritime lore, sculpture gardens, or the hush of fjord mist through white-painted alleys.
