Fjaler is Sunnfjord’s low-key showoff — a municipality in Vestland where poets, post roads, and fjord views all quietly compete for your attention. With around 2,900 residents and a coastline that hugs the Dalsfjord like it’s got secrets to keep, Fjaler is the kind of place where you can hike to a waterfall, quote Jakob Sande, and still make it back for cheese and jazz at a farm café. It’s got history, scenery, and just enough eccentricity to keep things interesting.

Top Attractions

  • Lillingstonheimen – 1808 manor with Victorian garden & cultural events
  • Jakob Sande-tunet – poet’s childhood home with museum & summer café
