Etne
Etne is Vestland’s fjord-threaded storyteller — a municipality where waterfalls roar like Viking oaths, potholes punch through granite, and churches whisper tales of kings and conversion. With around 4,000 residents and a landscape carved by the mighty Åkrafjord, Etne is a place where nature and Norse history collide in spectacular fashion. It’s got glacial cauldrons, via ferrata climbs, and a waterfall CNN once called one of the world’s most beautiful. Not bad for a place with more sheep than stoplights.

Getting There
Etne lies along the E134 highway, about 2 hours from Bergen and 1.5 hours from Haugesund. The villages of Etnesjøen, Skånevik, and Fjæra are connected by bus, boat, and scenic drives. The Åkrafjord Tunnel and Rullestad Tunnel make the journey dramatic — and surprisingly efficient.
