Iveland
Iveland is Agder’s mineral-studded forest retreat — a municipality where moose roam fenced pastures, feldspar glints in old mines, and the local water brand is bottled with global swagger. With around 1,400 residents and a landscape shaped by pegmatite quarries, glacial lakes, and pine-covered hills, Iveland is the kind of place where you can hike to a WWII hideout, paddle past 365 islands, and still catch a pottery exhibition in a barn that smells faintly of fresh bread. It’s got geology, gentleness, and a name that once meant “yew river land.”

Getting There
Iveland sits in Setesdal, about 45 minutes north of Kristiansand. The Fv403 highway connects to Vennesla and Birkenes, and buses run from Evje and Hornnes. The area is best explored by car, boots, or canoe — especially if you’re chasing moose tracks, mineral veins, or the hush of pine needles on granite.
